We offer fly fishing tuition for beginners (tackle provided) or competent anglers wishing to improve their casting skills and can provide guided days on many local waters. Peter is a Licensed Game Angling Instructor (trout) and member of GAIA with a lifelong passion for fishing which he would love to share with you.

Bake Lakes, which offer both trout and coarse fishing all year round, are just under a mile away. Siblyback Lake is about 10 miles away on Bodmin Moor and the other South West Lakes Trust waters are all easily reached.

We can arrange permits for Angling 2000 venues and weekly or daily permits are available for seatrout and salmon fishing on local rivers. We also offer fish smoking and freezing facilities.

The Coast
The Rame Peninsula - "the Forgotten Corner" of Cornwall - is a short drive from Haycorn Cottage. Here you will find the delightful historic twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand overlooking Plymouth Sound. The coast path, with stunning coastal views, starts at the village of Cremyll, winds through the beautiful Mount Edgcumbe Park (with its impressive house and Grade 1 listed gardens) and past Rame Head where you will find an 11th century monks' chapel.

We recommend a visit to Mount Edgcumbe Country Park where you can visit formal gardens, walk in the woods and along the cliff top, picnic by the sea overlooking Plymouth Sound or visit the historic house.

To the south west you can visit the fishing ports of Looe and Polperro, with the less well known and unspoilt Talland Bay nestling in between. Drive a little further and you will reach Polruan where you can get the ferry across to Fowey, (home to Daphne du Maurier) with its busy harbour and vibrant sailing community. Should you wish to visit St. Ives or Falmouth, we recommend you take the train from Liskeard, enjoy the views and have no worries about parking.

Moorland
Beyond Liskeard, to the north west you will find Bodmin Moor with its ancient standing stones, the Cheesewring and ruins of many engine houses from its industrial past. Wild ponies roam the moor and you can walk for miles or go fishing at Siblyback Lake or visit Jamaica Inn and the Bodmin and Wenford Steam Railway.

Dartmoor National Park which on a clear day can be seen from the garden at Haycorn Cottage, also has much to offer including miles of rugged moorland and magnificent tors as well as the famous Dartmoor ponies.
